Twelve archetypes · sourced profiles
The 12 zodiac
personalities
Past the meme version of each sign. Real profiles drawn from astrological sources — covering the strengths, the shadow, the friendship style, the career fit, and the one growth edge that defines the archetype.
More than your sun sign
"I'm a Scorpio" is shorthand for a single layer of your chart — your sun sign. It's useful, but every personality also carries a moon sign (your inner life), a rising sign (how you arrive), and the rest of the planets coloring everything in between.
Archetype, not horoscope
These pages aren't predictions. They're descriptions of how each archetype tends to show up — at work, in friendship, in love, in conflict — when it's expressed clearly and when it isn't.
Read more than one
Most people see themselves in three or four signs at once. That's a clue you're reading your moon and rising too. Astrelle calculates them for you — free, in three minutes — once you know your birth time.

Frequently asked questions
What's the difference between my Sun, Moon, and Rising sign?
Your Sun sign is your core identity — the version of you that becomes more visible as you grow into yourself. Your Moon sign is your inner emotional life, what soothes you and what you need privately. Your Rising sign (also called Ascendant) is the version of you people meet first — your social entrance, the way you arrive in a room. All three are equally "you," just operating on different layers.
Can two people with the same Sun sign be totally different?
Yes — and this is the most common reason a sun-sign description doesn't fit you. Two Geminis with different moons, risings, and Mercury placements will read as completely different people in real life. The sun sign sets the dominant theme; the rest of the chart decides how that theme is performed. This is why Astrelle reads the full chart, not just one sign.
Which sign placement matters most for personality?
For most people, the Rising sign and Moon sign shape day-to-day personality more than the Sun. Rising decides how you show up; Moon decides how you feel. The Sun is where you're trying to grow toward over a lifetime — it's an aspiration as much as an identity. If a sun-sign profile doesn't match you, your rising or moon profile usually does.
Are some signs really more compatible than others?
Element-level compatibility (fire-fire, water-earth, etc.) is real but oversimplified. Two charts can share a sun-sign element and still struggle if their moons clash, and two "incompatible" sun signs can be deeply attuned if their moons and Venus placements align. Real synastry compares the entire chart, not just sun-to-sun. The element rule is a starting heuristic, not a verdict.
Is astrology a personality test like Myers-Briggs or the Enneagram?
Astrology and personality typologies overlap in what they describe but differ in what they measure. MBTI and the Enneagram are based on self-report; astrology is calculated from your birth chart, which doesn't change. Many people find their astrological profile maps cleanly onto their MBTI type — Aquarius rising and INTJ, for example, share a lot of vocabulary. Astrology is the longest-running personality framework in continuous use.
Can my sign change?
Your natal placements (the chart at the moment of your birth) never change — your sun sign at birth is your sun sign for life. What does change are transits: where the planets are right now relative to your natal chart. People who feel like they've become a different sign are usually responding to a major transit (a Saturn return at 28-30, a Jupiter return at 11-12, etc.) acting on their natal placements.
